Naturopathic medicine
Naturopathic medicine encompasses many different modalities of natural medicine namely herbal medicine, homoeopathy and nutrition. Based on the latest advancements in medical science and traditional philosophies, naturopathy is a truly ‘holistic' medicine, treating the mind, body and emotional state. It works by stimulating the body's own healing powers, using nutritious foods, vitamins & minerals, herbs and homoeopathic remedies. Naturopathic medicines are extremely effective, without the nasty side effects that come with a lot of allopathic medications. Naturopathic medicine gently and naturally helps restore health and bring the body back into balance.
Naturopaths recognize that symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony in the body. Rather than suppressing these symptoms, naturopaths work with their patients to understand the nature of the presenting symptoms and the underlying cause of their illness. Naturopaths make their diagnosis based on careful questioning, observation and medical tests (if required). Naturopaths' ultimate aim is to help their patients naturally restore and maintain optimum health – to achieve balance in their lives and freedom to live a healthier, happier life, preventing minor illnesses from progressing into more serious or chronic degenerative diseases.
These are just some of the conditions a naturopath can help you with:

Why go organic?
Organic produce is grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or growth hormones. Organic manufacturers take their nutritional responsibilities very seriously having strict standards that have to be followed. The producers of organic products have a special consideration for the environment, caring for the soil and working in harmony with nature to deliver a natural product that is free from chemicals. Organic products are also free from any artificial additives, flavourings, colourings, preservatives, hydrogenated fats or genetically modified ingredients.
Studies suggest that organic crops are nutritionally superior, having higher levels of vitamins and minerals. Organic crops are also distinguishable by their superior taste.
The best way to avoid toxins ending up on your plate and potentially harming your health is to buy organic foods whenever you can. When buying commercially grown products there are ways to reduce pesticide residue:
Thoroughly wash all non-organic fruit and vegetables.
Peel all non-organic fruit and vegetables with skins such as carrots, potatoes, pumpkin, pears, and peaches.
Peel foods such as cucumbers and apples that have a wax coating (wax prolongs their shelf life but also seals in harmful pesticide residues).
Rinse non-organic rice, grains and legumes well before cooking.
Choose organically farmed meats and chickens where possible, these animals are not given any hormones or antibiotics so you will not find any toxic residues in their meat. If you buy non-organic meat make sure you trim all visible fat, as toxins tend to accumulate in the fat of animals.
What is Iridology?
Iridology is a form of diagnosis using the iris of the eye. Every organ and part of the body is represented in the eye. The colours and markings of the iris reflect the state of the body making iridology a very useful diagnostic tool. For example a darker colouring around the pupil (the stomach zone) would indicate low stomach acid in a patient. Most naturopaths use iridology when looking for areas of potential weaknesses in different body systems. Often something seen in the eye will confirm a diagnosis or suggest a new path of investigation.
